GPR & Underground Services Lead

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a specialist underground utility intelligence capability within one of New Zealand's most progressive multi-discipline consultancy.
Working across some of the country's most significant projects, you'll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, driving innovation in how underground assets are detected, interpreted, modelled, and delivered.

The Opportunity
Based in Auckland, with some travel across the country, you'll lead underground utility investigations from field acquisition through to final geospatial deliverables. You'll remain technically involved while mentoring others, refining workflows, and helping grow a high-performing service line.

You'll be responsible for:
Leading underground utility detection projects from start to finish
Delivering advanced GPR acquisition and interpretation across varied environments
Undertaking complex electromagnetic locating and utility mapping
Producing accurate geospatial outputs integrated into GIS workflows
Mentoring and developing junior team members
Improving technical methodologies, digital deliverables, and reporting standards
Supporting client relationships and contributing to the growth of the capability

About You... You'll bring:
5-10+ years' experience in underground utility detection or subsurface investigations
Great capability in GPR acquisition and interpretation
Experience with electromagnetic locating (EML/EMI)
Exposure to infrastructure or civil construction environments
The confidence to lead field teams and engage with clients
A genuine interest in innovation and the future of geospatial intelligence
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
IDS Stream DP or similar multi-channel GPR systems
GIS, GNSS, or utility modelling software
NULCA NZ certification or equivalent industry credentials
