About the role
You’ll lead a dedicated team focused on land sustainability and biodiversity protection. Reporting to senior leadership, this role spans policy, programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, and team development. You’ll work closely with landowners, tangata whenua, and government partners to deliver practical, forward-thinking solutions across the region.
We’re looking for Essential:- 10+ years' leadership experience in land management, sustainability, or environmental science
- Deep understanding of the RMA, Local Government Act, and biodiversity frameworks
- Strong project and programme management skills
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and influence across sectors
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and engaging with mana whenua
Nice to have:- Experience in local/regional government
- Familiarity with te ao Māori and willingness to deepen capability
- Politically astute and confident working in strategic or public-facing contexts
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with a solutions focus
