Underground Service Locators — Intermediate and Senior

Job description

Underground Service Locators | Intermediate & Senior
If you're a good underground service locator who has started getting more interested in what the data tells you, rather than just where to put the paint, this could be worth a look.

This business is doing things a little differently.

The work goes beyond traditional locating, using GPR, EM detection and survey-grade positioning to build accurate subsurface information that feeds into 3D utility models, digital deliverables and asset platforms.

And the projects are serious.

Think three waters, flood protection, transport corridors and major urban infrastructure, rather than a constant stream of small residential jobs.

They're looking for both Intermediate and Senior Locators, depending on your experience and where you want to take your career.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
  • $$$ Competitive Salary package, with genuine flexibility depending on experience and capability

  • Work where the information you collect actually feeds into design and project decisions

  • Major infrastructure projects across Auckland and beyond

  • Modern GPR, EM and survey-grade positioning equipment

  • A technical team working alongside geophysicists, surveyors and engineers

  • The opportunity to develop beyond locating into interpretation, QA, utility surveying and project work

  • A business where there is a genuine technical career path, rather than simply moving up the locator ladder

WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
Must have:
  • Solid hands-on underground service locating experience

  • Experience with EM and GPR

  • Good understanding of underground service risks and safe excavation practices

  • Ability to produce accurate, reliable and defensible locating records

  • Comfortable dealing with clients and working professionally on site

  • Full NZ driver's licence and NZ work rights

Nice to have:
  • Formal qualification or National Certificate in underground service locating - BeforeUdig

  • Survey-grade GNSS and digital field capture experience

  • Exposure to utility surveying, SUE or subsurface investigation

  • Infrastructure or transport corridor experience

  • Senior applicants: QA, mentoring or crew coordination experience
