84 Recruitment are recruiting for a contract Security Consultant to form part of a newly established AI Security & Enablement capability. This team will ensure the safe and ethical strategy, planning and integration of Artificial Intelligence across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of national cyber capability and drive secure AI adoption in one of the most complex and vital sectors in the country.
You’ll play a leading role in ensuring AI technologies are adopted safely, securely, and in line with standards like NZISM, PSR, HISF, and ISO 42001.
What you’ll be doing:- Support and upskill cyber teams to address AI-related risks, incident response, and assurance.
- Lead the secure adoption of AI tools in cybersecurity (e.g. threat detection, automation).
- Represent AI risk in forums, guide treatment strategies, and contribute to AI policy frameworks.
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years in cybersecurity, with 2+ years in AI security/governance/assurance
- Experience advising on or delivering secure-by-design AI/ML systems
- Knowledge of frameworks like NZISM, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, and PSR
- Familiarity with AI ethics, fairness, and trustworthy adoption
- Proven public sector or regulated industry experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CCSK, CCSP, or AI-specific credentials)
