Job Title: Assistant Accountant (Part time, 25 - 32 hours/week)
Location: Auckland (office-based)
Brief Join a well-established specialist firm that has, for over 30 years, partnered with landowners, developers and public sector clients to deliver surveying, planning, civil/infrastructure, transportation and environmental engineering services. With offices across the North Island and a culture grounded in respect, support and collaboration, this business values innovation, integrity and continuous improvement. You’ll be part of the Business Services Group in Auckland, working alongside the Finance Manager and management team to ensure the organisation’s financial and compliance framework is running smoothly.

Non-Negotiables To be considered, you must bring:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role with responsibility for the general ledger, reconciliations and financial/compliance reporting and payroll processing.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in accounting/finance and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Intermediate to advanced skills and exposure to Xero and iPayroll
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience working in a business-partnering capacity, providing financial support to other parts of the business.
- Excellent communication—both written and spoken—and a professional presentation aligned with being a trusted ambassador for the business.
Desirables Ideally you’ll also have:
- Proven experience with cloud-based accounting systems (such as Xero) and fixed-asset registers.
- Awareness or experience of automating accounting workflows and improving business processes.
- A curious personality who asks questions, is in the detail and can communicate confidentiality across all levels of a business.
