Graduate Surveyor / Experienced Surveyor

Job description

Graduate Surveyor / Experienced Surveyor

Meaningful projects, strong mentoring, and a long term career with a respected local consultancy.
Looking for a role where quality work, technical standards, and people genuinely matter? Whether you are a Graduate Surveyor starting your career or an Experienced Surveyor ready to take the next step, this is an opportunity to join a well established, multi disciplinary consultancy with deep roots in Dunedin and the wider Otago region.

We are working with a respected land development and infrastructure consultancy that has built its reputation over decades through consistent delivery, strong client relationships, and a collaborative team culture. The business brings together surveying, engineering, and planning under one roof, offering surveyors exposure to well rounded projects and long term career pathways.

About the Role: You will be part of a collaborative team delivering a wide range of cadastral, land development, and infrastructure projects across Dunedin and Otago. The work includes residential and commercial developments, subdivisions, and public sector projects, with a healthy balance of field and office involvement.
This is an environment where technical standards matter and experience is shared. Graduates are supported through structured mentoring, while experienced surveyors are trusted with responsibility and given space to contribute to project delivery and team development.

• Work across cadastral, land development, and infrastructure projects
• Use modern survey tools including 12d, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Leica, and Trimble
• Collaborate closely with engineers, planners, and project teams
• Structured mentoring and clear progression pathways
• Real autonomy, stability, and opportunity to build long term capability

About You:
Graduate Surveyor with a relevant surveying degree, or an Experienced Surveyor with practical project delivery experience
• Background or strong interest in cadastral and land development surveying
• Comfortable working across field and office tasks
• Exposure to 12d and CAD or Civil 3D is beneficial
• Strong communicator who values teamwork and quality outcomes
• Accurate, reliable, and confident in your work
• NZ citizen or resident with a full NZ driver’s licence

What’s in it for You:
• Competitive salary aligned to experience and role level
• Senior Surveyors: $90,000 – $150,000 + vehicle
• Graduate Surveyors: $70,000 – $90,000
• Supportive, people first culture with minimal red tape
• Long term career development within a stable, respected business
• Ongoing professional development and mentoring
• Flexible working arrangements where practical
• Relocation support available for candidates returning to NZ with proven experience

Why Dunedin?
Dunedin offers a genuine balance between meaningful professional work and lifestyle. With short commutes, affordable living, and easy access to beaches, wildlife, and outdoor spaces, it is a city where careers and family life can grow together.
For many surveyors, Dunedin represents the chance to slow the pace without compromising on project quality or career progression. Whether you are returning south or relocating from a larger centre, it is a place where work remains engaging and life outside work has room to breathe.
