LCS - Survey Technician

Job description

Licensed Cadastral Surveyor / Survey Technician
Tauranga / Bay of Plenty
Work where others holiday, big projects, beach lifestyle, real balance.

Looking to make a move that actually makes sense? Whether you’re an experienced Licensed Cadastral Surveyor or a Survey Technician ready for your next step, this is your chance to join one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions — the Bay of Plenty.
We’re working with several high-performing consultancies across Tauranga and Mount Maunganui that are expanding their land development and infrastructure teams.
These are companies known for their culture, mentoring, and long-term career paths — all while being minutes from the surf.

About the Role
You’ll work across a wide range of land development, commercial, and infrastructure projects, collaborating with engineers, planners, and digital specialists who value innovation as much as precision.
We’re in an exciting time for geospatial and surveying — tech is moving quickly, and these firms are embracing it. Expect to work with the latest gear, streamlined digital workflows, cloud-based data, and even early AI-powered tools that are reshaping how projects are delivered.
  • Use modern survey tools: 12d, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Leica, Trimble
  • Contribute to subdivision, infrastructure, and urban projects
  • Mentorship for those working toward LCS registration
  • Real autonomy and support to grow your career
About You
• 5–10+ years’ experience in cadastral and/or engineering surveying (NZ, AUS, UK)
• BSurv or equivalent tertiary qualification
• Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, or a Survey Technician of all levels
• Member or eligible member of Survey & Spatial NZ (S+SNZ) a plus
• Proficient in 12d, CAD/Civil 3D, ideally with modern data workflows
• Strong communicator with experience managing client relationships
• Accurate, reliable, and confident working independently
• NZ citizen or resident with a full NZ driver’s licence

What’s in it for You
• LCS: $150,000 - $250,000 + vehicle
• Senior Survey Technician: $110,000 - $180,000 + vehicle
• Intermediate Survey Technician: $80,000 - $110,000
• Leadership and shareholding opportunities for the right person & seniority
• Supportive, people-first culture - no red tape, no micromanagement
• Flexibility, professional development, and long-term stability
• Relocation assistance available for candidates returning to NZ (proven NZ experience)

Why the Bay of Plenty (Tauranga/The Mount)?

Think morning surf before work, school pick-ups at reasonble times, and evenings by the beach. Tauranga and the Mount offer an unbeatable mix of career opportunity, lifestyle, and family balance.
For many, it’s a chance to come back to their roots, be closer to family, or swap traffic for the ocean breeze — while still working on some of the country’s most exciting land development and infrastructure projects.
