Leave Specialist

Job description

We are looking for a Leave Specialist to assist our large corporate client in their new project team helping with a large HRIS project that is ready to kick off once the team is established. This project will be moving data from legacy programmes to a new HRIS system and the project is expected to span until the end of 2025. 

As Leave Specialist you will focus on the implementation of a new payroll system and be a crucial part of the team in ensuring accurate management and administration of leave policies in compliance with New Zealand payroll laws and regulations.
This position focuses on using your expertise in payroll leave policies, entitlement calculations, system administration, and training to facilitate a smooth transition to the new payroll system. Your goal is to leverage your expertise in leave policies, entitlement calculations, system administration, and training to facilitate a smooth transition to the new payroll system.

Key Candidate Responsibilities: 
  • Utilise in-depth knowledge of New Zealand payroll laws and regulations to guide the implementation of pay policies within the new payroll system.
  • Understand and apply leave policies and regulations to accurately calculate leave accruals and entitlements for employees.
  • Lead the design of leave business rules in the new payroll system using accurate leave data, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organisational policies.
  • Lead the configuration of employee self-service functionalities and leave approval workflows.
  • Provide support and training to managers and employees on using the new system for leave management purposes.
  • Collaborate with HR and IT teams to resolve leave-related issues and ensure seamless integration of leave management processes.

Key Candidate Requirements: 
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll or Leave Technician, Pay Administrator, or in a similar role involving pay and leave management and payroll system administration.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and pay management systems (e.g., SAP, Kronos, Workday, Human Force) is advantageous.
  • Certification in payroll administration or relevant HR software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex pay policies and regulations effectively.
