About the company Our client is a world leading property data and valuation platform, proudly built in New Zealand and now making waves across international markets. As they continue scaling, we’re partnering with them to find a Software Engineering Lead, someone who can inspire, architect, and lead from the front.
About the role This is a critical technical leadership position, responsible for guiding two high-performing squads (approx. 8 developers) through a period of exciting modernisation. You’ll play a hands-on role in technical decision-making, people leadership, and cross-functional collaboration particularly across microservices architecture, containerization, and the implementation of new tooling.
While you’ll lead engineers, you'll also be seen as a trusted technical advisor across the business, occasionally contributing to client meetings to tailor platform enhancements. This is a chance to shape real impact in a product-led, data-driven, and customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities - Lead, empower and mentor two engineering team, driving best practices in coding, testing (TDD), and delivery
- Architect and guide the transformation of microservices and containerized systems
- Champion DevOps, CI/CD, secure coding, and cloud-native practices
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external clients to understand custom requirements and co-design scalable solutions
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and QA teams to ensure consistent quality and agility
- Help building and developing a culture of continuous learning, technical curiosity, and innovation
What do you need?- Proven experience in a technical leadership role across agile software teams
- Strong development expertise in C#/.NET, plus exposure to at least one other modern language (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Deep understanding of TDD, automated testing, and clean coding principles
- Working knowledge of both AWS and Azure is a major advantage
- Solid grasp of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and secure SDLC
- Hands on experience with GitHub for source control, code reviews, and workflow automation
- Experience with microservices architecture, Docker/Kubernetes, and containerised environments
- Impeccable communication skills, with the ability to influence, present, and align tech strategy across teams and stakeholders
