Surveyor

Job description

Work where others holiday. Solid projects. Good people. Real balance.

Looking to make a move that actually makes sense? Whether you’re a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor or a Survey Technician ready for your next step, this is an opportunity to join a well-established local consultancy in the Coromandel that genuinely values people, practicality, and quality work.

We’re working confidentially with a respected, locally based surveying business operating across the Coromandel and Thames-Coromandel district.
It’s a tight-knit team with a strong reputation, long-standing client relationships, and a very straightforward approach to surveying. No ego, no corporate layers, just experienced people doing good work and backing each other.

About the Role:
You’ll be involved in a mix of cadastral, land development, residential, rural, and infrastructure projects typical of a busy regional practice.
The work is varied, hands-on, and meaningful, with plenty of autonomy and responsibility.
This is not a corporate environment. It suits someone who enjoys rolling their sleeves up, working closely with colleagues, dealing directly with clients, and taking pride in delivering jobs properly.
• Cadastral, subdivision, rural, and infrastructure surveying
• Field and office work depending on experience and preference
• Direct client interaction and end-to-end project involvement
• Support and mentoring for those working toward LCS registration
• Genuine flexibility and trust once you’ve proven yourself

About You:
• 5–10+ years’ experience in Land Development
• BSurv or equivalent tertiary qualification
• Licensed Cadastral Surveyor or Survey Technician at any level
• Member or eligible member of Survey & Spatial NZ (S+SNZ) a bonus
• Comfortable with 12d, CAD or Civil 3D
• Practical, reliable, and happy working in a small team
• Confident dealing directly with clients and consultants
• NZ citizen or resident with a full NZ driver’s licence

What’s in it for You:
• Competitive remuneration package, aligned to experience
• Long-term stability in a business with strong local roots
• A down-to-earth, supportive team that looks after its people
• Flexibility and trust once you’re established
• Relocation support considered for the right person

Why the Coromandel:
This is about lifestyle without giving up meaningful work. Shorter commutes, quiet beaches, bush walks, and a genuine community feel. It’s ideal for someone wanting to step away from city pressure and traffic while still enjoying a solid pipeline of interesting local projects.

Next Steps:
If you’re open to a confidential discussion, or just want to understand what a move to the Coromandel could look like, get in touch for a chat.
We’re proud to be the preferred recruitment partner of Survey & Spatial NZ, connecting good people with good employers across New Zealand.
