About the Role
A forward-thinking regional organisation is seeking a skilled and proactive Systems & Security Engineer to join their small but growing technology team. A major focus of this role is Cyber Security—you will take ownership of the organisation’s security posture by reviewing, updating, and driving the implementation of key security policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the review, refresh, and implementation of security policies and frameworks.
- Monitor systems for security risks, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
- Administer and enhance security infrastructure, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote cyber security awareness and best practices.
- Ensure systems infrastructure (networks, servers, cloud services) is secure, efficient, and well maintained.
- Assist in risk assessments, compliance checks, and disaster recovery planning.
- Support ongoing improvement of IT systems and security maturity.
What You'll Bring- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in cyber security and systems engineering roles.
- Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or NZISM.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft 365, Azure, and common enterprise security tools.
- A strong understanding of network protocols, endpoint protection, and firewalls.
- Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a close-knit team environment.
