The organisation: This leadership role is at the forefront of ensuring critical water infrastructure in the Wellington region operates to the highest standards. The position involves leading network operations across drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater systems—safeguarding service performance, supporting community wellbeing, and shaping how essential services are delivered. Based out of either Porirua or Rongotai, you’ll join a values-driven organisation committed to protecting the environment, building resilient networks, and enhancing the lives of the people it serves.

Non-Negotiables:- Relevant engineering qualification (or equivalent practical experience).
- At least 5 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of water pump stations, reservoirs, and network management systems.
- Strong knowledge of asset and risk management, project delivery, contract oversight, and budget management.
- Familiarity with key legislation (Water Services Act, Local Government Act, Resource Management Act, Health & Safety).
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and support technical teams.
- Full NZ Driver’s Licence.
Desirables:- Experience leading cross-functional projects with councils, consultants, or contractors.
- Ability to deliver improvements in asset performance and data capture.
- Strong communication skills, particularly when engaging the public or external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to balance operational demands with long-term planning.
