About the Role:
Vitruvius is seeking an experienced Principal Rail Engineer to provide technical leadership across major rail programmes nationwide.
This is an influential role where you’ll guide complex projects, support the development of others, and play a key part in shaping technical direction and long-term capability. You’ll work closely with clients, multidisciplinary project teams, and delivery partners to develop robust solutions, manage risk, and deliver consistently high-quality outcomes.
The role offers meaningful autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to have a genuine impact on both project delivery and the broader rail capability.
Skills & Experience:- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent, or actively working towards chartership
- Proven technical leadership across rail projects, acting as a senior technical authority and verifier
- 15+ years’ experience as a rail technical professional, with strong expertise in track engineering and multidisciplinary delivery
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and constructively
- A collaborative technical leader with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Experience working within digital engineering and BIM environments
- Demonstrated involvement in mentoring, technical leadership, or capability development
